I am a DC - based photographer focusing on alternative methods and abstract images.
I've just released a new zine called The Trees Spun Darkness.
The images in the zine were made with a 4"x5" wooden pinhole film camera, placed on a metal cake stand, faced up at the trees in the woods behind my house, and spun at various intensities for 2 to 20 minutes.
The results are sometimes geometric, sometimes they resemble trees, sometimes they're a bit alien. Hopefully they remind you of that feeling you get when you're alone in the woods, staring up at the sky between the leaves and the tree limbs.
The zine was printed using a RISOGRAPH PRINTER. While the zine (besides the cover) is all black ink, like my darkroom prints, I've also recently started printing my photos in color using the risograph process. The prints utilize intentional off-setting, double exposure, and other manipulations to turn black-and-white photography into bright risograph poster prints. Some of these are below, take a look !
